Sadly, this year there will be no “March for Life.” Organizers cancelled the annual event that by far sees the largest assembly on Parliament Hill in Ottawa (aside from Canada Day) for any event or protest. That annual gathering, despite mainstream media inattention, continues year after year, to assert the dignity of life and call for changes to Canada’s legal regime to protect it.
Instead of the march, a virtual vigil is being planned. The central element is a video production to run in May that will feature contemplative music, interviews with leading figures in Canada’s pro-life movement, and the interior of our beautiful church!

St. Augustine’s became the setting for the production unexpectedly when arrangements to use a sister parish’s facilities fell through last minute. A call to our parish office and a pleading request led to Fr. Whitfield opening up the church, and parish centre for the production company.
The broadcast date will be announced, and the program is to run on the internet, cable and satellite services through EWTN.
