The Youth Ministry’s first ever “virtual” Food & Faith!
The Youth Ministry’s “Food & Faith” series is one of our most popular Ministry events. It brings together youth members with their parents, grandparents, siblings, and friends – to gather around in the kitchen to learn and actually prepare a special dish, while learning of its traditions and its connection to our faith; thereafter, we ‘break bread’ together, enjoying the fruits of our labour in each other’s company and fellowship.
Although we could not gather together in person (due to the ongoing COVID pandemic!), we hosted a “virtual” Thanksgiving Food & Faith session! Packages were assembled with a surprise recipe. Packages were picked-up “drive-thru” style, so as to maintain safety and physical distancing. The surprise package also included a “Thankful Tree” activity, celebrating the holiday of gratitude. Families were invited to “virtually” prepare their “surprise recipe” over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend and to share “virtually” the fruits of their labours. In total, nine families participated.
A delicious and fun event!
We look forward to the next “virtual” Food & Faith session! Have any ideas for a future “virtual” Food & Faith session? Please reach out and let’s plan one together!
Here are a sampling of quotes shared from some of the Thanksgiving Food & Faith event participants:
“How fun to unpack this Food and Faith package. It truly warms our hearts, and is a perfect addition to our weekend.”
“thank-you for your hard work and great artistic ideas to make the F&F event even more enjoyable.”
“I just wanted to say thank you for all the preparations you did for this. The presentation was beautiful and we are excited to make this later.”
“….awesome experience!”
“Thanks for the beautiful packages you created, and all the time you spent researching for this, buying the ingredients, and portioning everything out. We had a ball sniffing and guessing all the spices! Our pie(s) just came out of the oven. The house smells wonderful!
