Knights of Columbus Council 6579 announced that their June 5th bottle drive raised $2003.20 from empties alone. A full tally is to be expected soon. The success of the event is reflected in the fact that the last bottle drive raised around $1900 from empties and received a cash donation as a top up to bring us to over $2000. More empties in this bottle drive in comparison to previous bottle drives.
The parish thanks all the knights who supported the event by spreading the word and by stopping by to donate empties. It was clear that more community members and knights knew about this event and donated more empties than previous bottle drives.
The event also had a great number of volunteers on the ground as well as the use of two trailers and two trucks. This not only made the process more efficient, but it was also nice to be able to see each other in person for a change. The knights anticipate running another bottle drive in the fall and probably in the new year.
The money raised will go toward the various charities supported by the local knights’ council.
