February 14, 2024 by St. Augustine's Parish Shrove Tuesday morning (February 13), kitchen coordinator Ann Leblanc discovered our hot water tanks in the Parish Centre had leaked overnight, soaking our basement storage room floor! Water was shut off immediately, which hampered preparations for the annual pancake supper. Ann, and husband Arnie, managed to get the meal organized anyway; thanks to their volunteer crew and a partial restoration of water that evening (however, it’s been shut off since). The water spread the length of the room, the carpet was found water-logged in several areas, along with damage to stretches of the wall that will need to be replaced with new drywall. Service Master is on the scene, and have arranged to empty the room and begin assessing the full extent of the damage. Huge puddle at the bottom of the stairs of the Parish Centre. Catholic Mutual has been contacted ($2500 deductible!), repairs are underway, and we hope to restore water service in time for our hospitality hours Sunday morning.
