Who are We?
Founded in 1833, by Frederic Ozanam, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul is an international lay organization whose members – Vincentians – provide material support to persons in need. This can be in the form of food cards, clothing, household items and furniture.
Our Mission Statement
To live the Gospel message by serving Christ in the poor with love, respect, justice and joy.
How does our conference at St. Augustine’s work
- We visit the poor, underprivileged and marginalized citizens of Dundas and Main West Hamilton from Osler Drive to the Ancaster boundary and provide them with food cards for Metro grocery stores.
- If needed we can issue vouchers for the St. Vincent de Paul store for clothing, household items and furniture.
- We instruct clients on the Canada Learning Bond for their children’s education.
- We partner with other Hamilton conferences to assist an indigenous community in Coral Harbour Nunavut.
- We provide financial assistance to Catholic CYO Camps for children.
How to Donate
- We collect donations the third Sunday of every month after each Mass or you can use an envelope provided at the back of the church if you would like a tax receipt. Tax receipts are issued before the end of February.
- You can also donate any Sunday by putting your donation in an envelope marked for St. Vincent de Paul in the collection basket. Cheques can be made out to St. Vincent de Paul@St. Augustine’s Parish.
