The Youth Ministry is proud to serve our youth of the parish in the new Sunday Series program. Any youth in grades 6 – 8 can join us for a time of fellowship and discussion as we go through the different themes in advent and answer the main question of “why is advent so important in catholic culture”?
Join the youth ministry every Sunday on Nov. 27th, Dec. 4th, Dec. 11th, and Dec. 18th starting at 9:30 until 10:45 AM. Topics of discussion include:
- Week 1 – Advent, Episode MMXXII: A Season of Hope (a discussion about Jesus as “light of the world” – John 8:12)
- Week 2 – The Actual Spirit of Christmas (a discussion on materialism and how to be self giving this Christmas season)
- Week 3 – On Gaudete Sunday we Wear Pink (a discussion on why we rejoice for Jesus’ coming and we can do so on a daily basis)
- Week 4 – Not Home Alone (a discussion on the importance of family in the nativity story and how it continues to be an important aspect of life today)

About us
OUR INITIATIVES – DOING GOOD FOR THE COMMON GOOD
Our “Do Good” motto underpins all we do through our various initiatives. Essentially, it means each of us is capable of doing good things, “we can each do good, for the common good”.
We have fun together, doing good. Youth learn and grow as whole persons, when they do and when they serve. Youth have so much to offer and indeed want to “do something” that fulfils their desire to do good, to give back and to contribute. They seek meaning and opportunities to do something meaningful. Doing something brings them joy.
What good can YOU do? Small good, big good – all good! Come and share and do good with us as we all DO SOMETHING together.
Here’s our theme song for our Youth in Action, Youth with PurposeDo Good initiative:
It is Jesus who stirs in you the desire to do something great with your lives, the will to follow an ideal, the refusal to allow yourselves to be ground down by mediocrity, the courage to commit yourselves humbly and patiently to improving yourselves and society, making the world more human and more fraternal.
~ St. Pope John Paull II
Core Principles
Core principles of the St. Augustine’s Parish Youth Ministry
VISION STATEMENT
The core theme of our Vision Statement = Discipleship: together we learn about Christ, who is the example and teacher extraordinaire of how to live an authentically joyful and peaceful life. We Learn about Christ the person, and Live like Christ. “Forming disciples to go forth and transform the world”.
MISSION STATEMENT
The core theme of our Mission Statement = Fellowship: We get together, we do together, we have fun together, we learn together, and we grow together. We are social beings, created for relationship. We are not meant to journey alone – we are meant to journey together.
OUR VALUES
Called to “Be Light and Salt of the earth”- B.E.A.M. Our core values are infused in all we do together, in community, and are intended to encourage and enable each Youth to shine – BEAM – their light into the world and to make a difference as they journey through life, wherever life make take them. Belonging. Excellence. Authentic. Meaning.
EVERY YOUTH INTENTIONAL
Each Youth: created on purpose, for a purpose©. Each person is created in the image and likeness of God – each with inherent dignity. Each person is valued and deserving of respect. In turn, each of us is to honor the inherent dignity of another – to value and respect each other. Treating others as we want to be treated. Each person is created on purpose, for a purpose©. Every Youth is awesome and has much to offer and share – the world needs what each youth has to give and share!
FAMILIES AS PARTNERS; PARISH AS FAMILY
The Domestic Church (aka Family) is the primary teacher. Families come in many different shapes and sizes and each serves as the primary community of learning. We recognize, honor, and respect the families of our Youth as the primary educators of their children and youth. To that end, we partner with them. As the adage goes, “It takes a village to raise a child”, and we are humbled to be a part of that important Village, to walk alongside our Youth as they journey through life. We also welcome parents’/guardians’/grandparents’ participation and engagement in our Youth Ministry – either as volunteers in our Ministry initiatives alongside their Youth or as volunteers in serving our families and Youth through our Ministry.
A core member and belonging to Parish. In addition, our Youth Ministry is an integral part of our Parish Community. We participate in the life of the Parish and we invite Parishioners to join us in various initiatives and to share their gifts and talents with us. We are a part of the Parish Family.
YOUTH IN ACTION, YOUTH WITH PURPOSE: MISSION & SERVICE
Do Good for the Common Good. Our Youth Ministry is a ministry of mission, one focused on service and action – serving Christ in each other and in those in our communities, near and far. We are an action-oriented Youth Ministry, living out our lives through the lens of faith and loving neighbor in good deeds, big and small. All matter, all count. There are many different ways Youth can use their time, gifts, talent, and treasure to participate and serve joyfully – and to live joyfully. For it is in giving that we receive.
We are each called to be who God created us to be – He gave us all the gifts, talents, interests, and skills we need to fulfill our unique purpose in life. Be You – only You can do what You are meant to do… & the world needs YOU!
We are each called to lead, help and to serve – fulfilling the ‘great commission’ of Christ who told us to go and do good, and to spread the good news. We are each called to “Do Something”!
Spread love wherever you go. Let no one ever come to you without leaving happier. We shall never know all the good that a simple smile can do
~St. Mother Teresa of Calcutta
It’s not about how much you do, but how much love you put into what you do those counts.

Yours is the gigantic task of overcoming all evil with good, always trying amidst the problems of life to place your trust in God, knowing that his grace supplies strength to human weakness. You must oppose every form of hatred with the invincible power of Christ’s love.
